~ = approximate: distance and climbing change with your start point and the way you ride. Riding time is an estimate of time in the saddle, from a sporty to a relaxed rider on the best bike for the route, without wind or stops.
The ride
From Costa Teguise the loop is about 75 km with around 900 m of climbing. You climb through Teguise, the old capital of the island, then drop to the north-west coast at Caleta de Famara, with its sand streets and the long beach below the Famara cliffs.
There is no road along the coast from Famara to La Santa: the track by the sea is deep sand. The road goes inland through Soo, then down to La Santa, and back east through Tinajo, at the edge of the Timanfaya lava fields.

Wind and tips
Famara is open to the trade wind. Expect it in your face on the way back east.
For extra climbing, the road from Famara up to the Montaña de San Rafael is about 6.6 km at 4.5%, but part of it is gravel.
