Cycling from Arrecife

Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote, on the east coast. In the centre are the Charco de San Ginés, the lagoon where the town began as a fishing village, and the Castillo de San Gabriel on its islet off the seafront.

The coast is almost flat both ways. North-east, a promenade with a bike path has run to Costa Teguise since 2022: about 9 km each way. South-west, you ride through Playa Honda on its signed cycle streets to Puerto del Carmen, about 15 km each way. Stay on the bike paths and lanes: in Spain bikes aren't allowed in pedestrian areas.

Can I cycle along the coast from Arrecife?
Yes, both ways, and it's almost flat. To Costa Teguise it's about 9 km each way on the bike path by the sea; to Puerto del Carmen about 15 km each way, through Playa Honda on the signed cycle streets. A city bike is all you need.
