Arrecife cruise port guide

Your ship docks in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. Here's where you'll come ashore, how to get into town, and what fits into a day before all aboard.

Where ships dock

Arrecife has two cruise terminals. Naos is next to Marina Lanzarote, about 1 km from the centre. Los Mármoles is further north-east, about 4 km from the centre. Both terminals were officially opened in May 2025. Your cruise line tells you which one you'll use.

Cruise season in the Canary Islands runs through autumn and winter, roughly September to April.

Getting into town

On foot: from Naos it's a short walk. From Los Mármoles, allow 30 to 40 minutes, with little shade.

By bus: line 3 stops at Los Mármoles and reaches Arrecife bus station in about 7 minutes. It runs every 20 minutes from about 7:00 to 22:00, and carries on to Puerto del Carmen (about 47 minutes) or Costa Teguise (about 13 minutes).

By taxi: Arrecife taxis charge €3.05 to start and €0.80 a km by day (2025 fares), plus €1.20 for leaving the Los Mármoles dock.

Some cruise lines run a shuttle towards the centre. Ask on board.

Arrecife on foot

Charco de San Ginés: the seawater lagoon where Arrecife began as a fishing village, now ringed by bars and restaurants.

Castillo de San Gabriel: a 16th-century fort on an islet off the seafront, reached over the Puente de las Bolas. It houses the town's history museum.

Calle Real and Calle León y Castillo: the main shopping streets, next to the old town.

Playa del Reducto: the town beach, with calm water behind a reef and a promenade along it.

Castillo de San José: an 18th-century fort that now holds the International Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC). Open every day 11:00–18:00, €5.40.

Further in a day

Timanfaya (Montañas del Fuego): open 9:00–15:45, €30. Tickets are sold online for a set time slot, and you see the volcanoes from the park's coach. No bus goes there, so book a tour or take a taxi.

Jameos del Agua (from €17) and Cueva de los Verdes (€17, book a time slot online) are in the north. Line 9 from Arrecife bus station reaches Jameos del Agua in about 45 minutes, but not every bus stops there.

Puerto del Carmen: the beach resort is about 47 minutes from Los Mármoles on line 3.

Whatever you choose, leave yourself time to get back before all aboard.

Cycling from Arrecife

The coast from Arrecife is almost flat. North-east, a promenade with a bike path runs about 9 km to Costa Teguise; south-west, cycle streets through Playa Honda lead to Puerto del Carmen.

We rent bikes for 3 days or more and deliver them to your hotel, so we can't do a day off the ship. If you come back to Lanzarote for a holiday, we'll bring the bike to your door.
